Pumpkin Carving

How could I forget our first year of pumpkin carving with Little Man? The first of October he started asking me if we could buy a pumpkin to carve. Finally, a week before Halloween I gave in. He picked out his pumpkin and even tried to carry it to the car. It was a bit heavy for him. We finally had a night where dad had some free time so Little Man searched the internet for the perfect scary face. He printed it off and gave it to dad to draw. Then he got to see what was really inside a pumpkin.

At first he wasn't too impressed.

Then he started to have fun with it.

He told me carving a pumpkin was hard work!

We made Dad do the mouth.

He loved these lights as much as he loved his pumpkin!

Little Lou on the other hand wasn't quite sure she liked the pumpkin face staring at her. She tried to tip it off the chair.

Halloween 2014

Trick or treating this year was a success! Lady Lou figured things out very quickly and didn't stay in the stroller long. She moved right on up to the front of the line and didn't leave until she had BOTH hands full of candy. She likes to double fist the chocolate! Good thing the everyone was eager to get rid of their candy and thought the little own was cute!
We went out with our friends Elsa and Minnie Mouse. Optimus Prime made sure everyone was safe all night. And the Wise Owl made sure we didn't miss any of the houses!

More Confessions

Has anyone else noticed that I am really bad at blogging? Not even really bad, but really really bad. I had all of these expectation and high hopes when we moved to Albuquerque and I joined the throngs of stay at home moms. Let me tell you, NONE of them have really come to fruition. So then I think to myself, is this how it really is, or am I just really bad at this Stay at Home Mom gig. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE being home with them and spending my days with them. It really is great. But that is about all I have accomplished in the last year. Yes, I know that is my most important job, but I tend to look at others, see all they are doing and get down on myself because I can't even accomplish half of what they do. I am constantly telling myself I need to get it together. Then the realization hits me, I will probably never have it all together, and I should be okay with that. But I am not, and it's driving me CRAZY! So please, help me, let me know I am not the only one who feels this way!

Whew, now that I got that off my chest, I will move on to a few lighter subjects! Mike has started the dreaded second year of Physical Therapy. They refer to it as the dreaded year because it is ALL book work from August 2014 to end of July 2015. Yes, there are the regular fall, winter and spring breaks, but no clinicals or hands on training for second years. Mike is really enjoying the classes and the topics, but has a hard time when guest speakers come in. He says most of the neurologists speak in such soothing monotone voices that it puts him to sleep. He is doing better with his test anxiety. That is a relief for me! Let's hope he is all the way over it when it comes time to take his boards!

Little Man is a little sponge. I am doing a homeschool preschool with him a few hours a day while Lady Lou is napping and he loves it, he always wants more, more more, even on the weekends he wants to do his school work. I hope he keeps up his love of learning as he gets further on in school. I am experimenting with the whole homeschool option because there is a good possibility that I will homeschool him for kindergarten as well. (and however long we may be here in ABQ) The school system in Albuquerque is terrible and unless we move (which may be a possibility depending on what our landlords decide come January) I WILL NOT send him to the school he is zoned for. So far it has been positive for both of us, but it's only preschool!

Lady Lou is crazy fun. She has such a fun little personality and keeps us on our toes. She is constantly into EVERYTHING. She is my little tornado, you can always tell where she has been because she leaves a trail of anything and everything in her wake. She is fearless. She loves the big slides and the park and will climb up to them and go down them all by herself. She doesn't want help and she doesn't want you to catch her either. Miss independent! She is just getting to the chattering stage and it is so hilarious to listen to her chatter to herself.

The kids play pretty well together for the most part. They have their moments, especially little man when he wants to build something and our little bulldozer comes through and tears it down. But it's nice to see them play together, get along have fun together. This summer their favorite thing to do was play in the pool together and now that Lady Lou has figured out how to get on the trampoline by herself, they love to go out there and jump, well Little Man loves to jump and Lady Lou loves to get bounced around.

Well, that is all of my confessions for now. I won't lie, I may have more later, but for now, I will concentrate on trying to be less harsh on myself and getting more pictures up on my blog more regularly. :)

Snowboarding 2014

What is a trip to Idaho without a day of snowboarding. Despite that there were only 12" on top and even less on bottom. We packed those boards. We were going to use them! Despite the lack of snow it was a fun day on the mountain!

Olsen Family get together 2013

What is Christmas without the Annual Olsen Christmas exchange? We got together a few days after Christmas so that everyone could be there. As always we had good food, good company and lots of fun. Starr even got to experience some of Mike's new found knowledge and he worked on Starr's back for quite a while. Good times for sure, I won't go on, pictures say it better than words anyway.
 Look at all those presents!
 Family!
 More family.
Little Man wasn't feeling well, can you tell?
Santa's cute little helper wouldn't turn around for me!
 And more family!
 Showing us his moves!
What did you get Little Man?
Uncle Shane doesn't want his picture taken.
But we got a few when he wasn't looking.
Yes, You are cute!
Little man and his favorite Uncle Shane!
 What is it?
Everyone wants to help open presents.
We got another one!

Christmas 2013

We traveled to Idaho for Christmas. It was a much needed break for Mike and it was so good to be home and see family and friends! Little Man and I both got sick while we were there, which limited the people we could go and see, but it was still worth the trip. A HUGE thanks to our family who made it all possible! I really wish we hadn't packed the camera first while packing our car so I could have gotten a picture of what it looked like. There was literally no spare inches anywhere in the car. We were packed to the brim! Little Lou decided to cut one of her top teeth on the drive down and the other on the way home. That made for a fun 15 hours. We stayed with Mike's cousin in Utah both on the way to Idaho and on the way home, to break it up a bit and not drive the whole thing in one day.

He's not quite fully awake yet.
 Nope, not yet either.
 Books!
 She's not quite awake either.
She enjoyed watching Little Man open presents.
 Grandpa is so funny!
 New toys!
 Turbo! The snail is fast!
 Where's Little Lou?
Just give me the paper and I'm a happy girl!
Sick Little Man and Reefer the cat.
Happy girl at Grandma and Grandpa's!
 Stuck girl!
Little Man found "Chapstick" in Grandma's girl box. AKA lipstick in the box he was told to stay out of because it was for girls not boys.
